Two Farmers Lightly Salted Hand-Cooked Crisps, 100g Tin

Four ingredients: potatoes, sunflower oil, Droitwich salt and a little rosemary extract. Two Farmers, who grow, store, slice and fry their own potatoes at Wellington in Herefordshire, cook these in small batches on the farm, the first time the potatoes have left it since planting.

The varieties are Lady Claire, Lady Rosetta and Taurus, chosen because they fry to a good colour. They are cooked in high-oleic sunflower oil and seasoned only with Droitwich salt, which the maker says is harvested by hand from natural brine springs in Worcestershire and crystallised using renewable energy. The result tastes of potato first and salt second: golden, thick and crunchy, with no seasoning to hide behind. No artificial flavours, colours or preservatives; the maker lists them as vegan and gluten-free.

These are the crisps for a bowl of Stokes Real Tomato Ketchup or The Garlic Farm Garlic & Chilli Mayonnaise to dip into, or for a cheeseboard where a flavoured crisp would get in the way. They also do the job with a sandwich at lunch, or in the sandwich, if you were brought up that way.
