The London Honey Co. British Honey Trio Gift Set 3 x 100g

Three 100g jars of single-origin honey in a gift box, made by The London Honey Co. of Bermondsey in Greater London. The company has kept its own bees since 1999, and the producer says all three honeys come from its own hives.

The set is built on contrast between three places. Essex Borage Honey is the pale one, and the producer warns against taking the colour for mildness, describing delicate herbal, green notes. Lancashire Ling Heather Honey is dark and sets to a jelly in the jar, which is normal for ling heather. The producer calls it the most savoury and the richest of the three. Kent Creamed Honey comes from hives on an old country estate in Kent, where the bees forage on broad beans, brassicas and hawthorn. It is sweet and spreadable, with what the producer calls delicate vegetal notes.

Taste the three side by side on plain toast before deciding what each is for. The borage suits tea and salad dressings, the heather stands up to a strong cheddar such as Quicke's Mature Clothbound Cheddar, and the creamed honey is the one for crumpets. The borage is also sold as a 250g jar, and the borage and ling heather together as the Duo.

Three 100g glass jars, 300g in total. No major allergens declared. Honey can crystallise; stand the jar in warm water to loosen it. Not suitable for babies under twelve months, as with all honey.

We send food and drink, so parcels never wait in depots over the weekend. If your order arrives damaged, faulty, missing an item, or not as described, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and clear photos of the packaging and the affected item. Please keep all packaging until we've reviewed the issue.
