Stokes Bramley Apple Sauce 265g

Stokes use 51% Bramley apples in this sauce made at the Old Stable in Rendlesham, Suffolk. The Bramley is the variety English cooks have always chosen, its sharp, high-acid character producing a sauce with presence rather than just sweetness. A splash of British dry cider adds a gentle fermented depth that makes this more interesting than the plain apple sauce most people grow up eating.

The sauce that belongs next to roast pork, which is its traditional context and the one where it performs best. Also excellent poured over good vanilla ice cream in a combination that is underrated and entirely worth trying.
