Single Variety Co. Majestic Raspberry Preserve

A 225g jar of raspberry preserve made from one raspberry variety, the Majestic, by Single Variety Co. at their small jam factory in Bristol, where every preserve is built around a single fruit variety so that its own flavour, colour and scent come through. Nicola Elliott started the business in 2016 from her kitchen; the factory came later.

There are four ingredients: Majestic raspberries, sugar, lemon juice and natural pectin. The fruit content is high, 60g in every 100g, and the sugar lower than a traditional jam at 49g per 100g, so the maker's description, tart and fresh with a proper raspberry flavour, is what you get: sharp fruit first, sweetness second, and a bright colour rather than a dark stewed one.

The maker's own suggestions are porridge and yoghurt, and both are right. Beyond that, spread it thick on hot buttered toast, layer it in a Victoria sponge, or spoon it onto Farmhouse Biscuits Shortbread Rings with a little clotted cream. It also does a quiet job on a cheeseboard beside a young goat's cheese such as Rosary Natural Goat's Cheese Drum.

Delivery

We send food and drink, so parcels never wait in depots over the weekend. Order by midday, Monday to Thursday, for next-day delivery: DPD with a one-hour window for most orders, APC Overnight's specialist liquid service for anything containing wine, spirits or other liquids. Orders after midday Thursday, or over the weekend, dispatch on Monday.

Cheese is cut fresh to order and sent chilled, dispatched every Monday and Wednesday. Everything in your order ships together in one insulated box, arriving the next day.

If your order arrives damaged, faulty, missing an item, or not as described, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and clear photos of the packaging and the affected item. Please keep all packaging until we've reviewed the issue.
