Miller's Toast Fig & Sultana 100g

Thin, crisp fruit toasts with figs and sultanas, hand-baked by Miller's at a family bakery in Ashbourne in Derbyshire that has been going for more than a hundred years. The baker describes them as fabulous with foie gras and, in its own words, perfect with pâté.

They are made in the biscotti way: a loaf of wheat flour, buttermilk, dried figs, sultanas, honey, soft brown sugar, olive oil and poppy seeds is baked, sliced wafer thin and baked again until it is dry and snapping. The fig seeds and poppy seeds give them a little crunch, and the sweetness is gentle, closer to a tea bread than a biscuit.

The baker calls them slim and ultra-crispy for spreading and nibbling, and they are the right base for anything rich and spreadable: a coarse pork pâté, a chicken liver parfait, a soft goat's cheese or a ripe washed-rind cheese. They also stand up well to a mature cheddar with a spoon of Christmas chutney. The Plum & Date version is the one for blue cheese.

A 100g box. Contains gluten from wheat and milk, and the bakery says its products are not suitable for nut allergy sufferers. Vegetarian by ingredients.

If your order arrives damaged, faulty, missing an item, or not as described, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and clear photos of the packaging and the affected item. Please keep all packaging until we've reviewed the issue.
