Fentimans Connoisseurs Tonic Water

A tonic water built to sit behind a gin rather than shout over it, from Fentimans, the botanical brewers of Hexham in Northumberland who have made fermented soft drinks since 1905. The producer's line is that a good tonic lets the spirit be the hero.

Carbonated water, sugar and citric acid carry natural flavouring, quinine and fermented botanical extracts of juniper berry, kaffir lime leaves and lemongrass, with a little stevia to trim the sugar. Fentimans describe a clean, clear liquid, a fresh aroma and a crisp taste with a hint of quinine balanced by subtle sweetness. The lemongrass and lime leaf give it a citrus lift; the juniper nods to the gin it is made for.

The producer pairs it with citrusy gins, orange, grapefruit or lemon led, or with a gin rich in juniper. Pour it over plenty of ice with The Lakes Gin Classic or Warner's London Dry Gin and a strip of grapefruit peel. It is also a clean tonic on its own with lime, and a 500ml bottle stretches to three or four drinks.

Orders after midday Thursday, or over the weekend, dispatch on Monday.

If your order arrives damaged, faulty, missing an item, or not as described, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and clear photos of the packaging and the affected item. Please keep all packaging until we've reviewed the issue.
