Farmhouse Biscuits Shortcake Whirls in 12 Days of Christmas Tube 300g

A 300g tube of Shortcake Whirl biscuits printed with the Twelve Days of Christmas, from Farmhouse Biscuits, baked in Nelson, Lancashire, where the McIvor family moved the bakery in 1978 after starting out in a farmhouse kitchen in 1962.

Shortcake whirls are piped, swirled biscuits: wheat flour, rapeseed and palm oils, sugar, rice flour and cornflour with a natural flavouring. The rice flour and cornflour keep them short, so they melt rather than snap, and the recipe uses vegetable oils instead of butter, which is why the maker labels them vegan. The tube runs the partridge in a pear tree through to the twelve drummers drumming around the outside.

A tube to leave on the side through December for anyone passing with a cup of tea, or to stand in a stocking. They are good with a milky coffee and with Little's French Vanilla in particular, and they crumble well over stewed fruit.
