A 200g tin of spiced butter biscuits for autumn, baked by Cartwright & Butler, the Arnett family's bakery at Gilberdyke in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
Salted butter is 30% of the recipe. The sweetness comes from caster, brown and demerara sugars and golden syrup, and the spice from cinnamon, mixed spice, nutmeg, ginger and star anise, with orange zest and orange oil. Pumpkin concentrate is 1%. The baker describes the biscuits as sweet and buttery with the gentle warmth of pumpkin and autumnal spice, crunchy yet crumbly, and presents them in an orange clip-lid tin.
