Very Lazy Chopped Red Chillies 190g

Chopped red chilli in white wine vinegar, made by Very Lazy of Newbury in Berkshire so the deseeding and chopping is already done. It is the shortcut for anyone who cooks with chilli most nights and does not want to handle a fresh one each time.

Two ingredients: white wine vinegar and dried red chilli flakes. The maker describes it as an easy way to add some heat to your meals in an instant, and gives the measure as one teaspoon to one red chilli, with the advice that if you like it hot, you add another. So the heat is real, and it is yours to control by the spoon. The vinegar adds a touch of sharpness that cooks away. It is vegan.

Spoon it into a chilli con carne, a curry base or a tomato sauce for pasta, add it to a stir-fry with Very Lazy Chopped Ginger, or stir it into mayonnaise for a quick chilli mayo. A teaspoon in a marinade for prawns or chicken thighs, with lime and Cornish Sea Salt, is a reliable barbecue move. It also livens up a bowl of soup or a plate of eggs.
