TruffleHunter English Black Truffle Oil 100ml

TruffleHunter English Black Truffle Oil is a finishing oil made by TruffleHunter at South Cerney in Gloucestershire, where the firm has produced its truffle oils, butters and sauces since setting up in 2010. Unlike most of their range, this one uses an English base oil and English truffles.

The base is cold pressed extra virgin rapeseed oil, at 97% per the producer, with dried English black truffles and black truffle flavouring. Rapeseed oil is smooth and faintly nutty, and it does not compete with the truffle the way a strong olive oil can. The producer describes the result as a smooth, nutty foundation with a deep, aromatic truffle intensity. Because it is a flavoured oil, the truffle comes through the nose first.

Use it at the end of cooking, not in the pan, so the aroma survives. The producer suggests it over pasta, risotto or pizza, on eggs, potatoes or roast vegetables, and stirred into dressings, sauces and marinades. A few drops over chips, a fried egg or a bowl of mushroom soup is enough. Try it drizzled on Godminster Black Truffle Organic Cheddar on toast, or on a plate of Cornwall Pasta Company Classic Radiators with butter and parmesan.
