The Natural Spa Peppermint Lip Balm 15g

A 15g tin of lip balm with peppermint essential oil, made by The Natural Spa at its workshop in East Devon.

The peppermint is cool and crisp, with a refreshing minty lift that suits cold, wind-chapped lips. Underneath is the maker's usual balm: shea butter and cocoa butter, sweet almond oil, jojoba and vitamin E, set with sunflower wax instead of beeswax. It is hydrating and quickly absorbed.

The tin is aluminium and the packaging has no plastic, so it suits a stocking or a Secret Santa where the person cares about that sort of thing. Keep it in a pocket through winter, or put it in a bag with the Mini Travel Wash Kit, which shares the spearmint and eucalyptus freshness. For no scent at all, choose the Pure Lip Balm.

The Natural Spa was started in 2016 by Zoe Strassen, then 18 and fresh from a chef apprenticeship, in a shed at the bottom of her parents' garden. It now works from a small workshop at Woodbury Salterton in East Devon, making everything by hand in small batches.
