The Natural Spa Bluebell Soap Bar 100g

A 100g bar of cold process soap coloured deep inky blue with alkanet root and scented with lavender and ylang ylang, made by The Natural Spa in East Devon. It is a seasonal bar, made for a short time each spring.

The colour comes from the root rather than a dye, and it settles unevenly as the soap sets, so each bar has its own rough, stony pattern. The scent is soft and floral rather than sweet. The base is olive, almond, sunflower, coconut and castor oils, with kaolin clay and oats for a gentle scrub, and it is gentle enough for every skin type. Like all the maker's bars, it is made by the cold process method, cut by hand and left to cure for four weeks before it is wrapped.

Keep it on a draining soap dish between uses and it will last for weeks. Put it with the Lavender Verbena Soap Bar for someone who likes lavender, or give it with a Pure Lip Balm as a small, plastic-free present.

The Natural Spa was started in 2016 by Zoe Strassen, then 18 and fresh from a chef apprenticeship, in a shed at the bottom of her parents' garden. It now works from a small workshop at Woodbury Salterton in East Devon, making everything by hand in small batches.
