The Natural Spa Lavender Verbena Soap Bar 100g

A 100g bar of cold process soap scented with lavender and Spanish verbena, made by The Natural Spa in East Devon.

The lavender is the calm, herbal kind rather than the powdery kind, and the verbena gives it a lemony lift. It comes from Thymus hiemalis, a wild thyme that grows in Spain and smells of lemon. The bar is made with olive, almond, cocoa butter, sunflower, coconut and castor oils, with kaolin clay, oats and green tea, and swirled by hand so no two bars look alike. Like all the maker's bars, it is made by the cold process method, cut by hand and left to cure for four weeks before it is wrapped.

It is a bar for the bathroom sink or the bath, and it makes an easy present for someone who likes lavender. Give it with the Bluebell Soap Bar, which shares the lavender, or with the Spiced Orange Bath Soak for a slower evening. A draining soap dish will help it last.

The Natural Spa was started in 2016 by Zoe Strassen, then 18 and fresh from a chef apprenticeship, in a shed at the bottom of her parents' garden. It now works from a small workshop at Woodbury Salterton in East Devon, making everything by hand in small batches.
