Fifteen whole-leaf tea temples of English breakfast tea from Teapigs, the whole-leaf tea company founded in November 2006 and based in Brentford, in Greater London, who blend big whole leaves rather than the dust that goes into most bags. The tea itself is a blend of three black teas: Assam, Ceylon from Sri Lanka, and Rwandan.
They describe the blend as a gutsy Assam, a mellow Ceylon and a powerful Rwandan, brought together into something perfectly balanced with a malty, zesty, rich strength. The temple is the other half of the story: a roomy, biodegradable mesh bag made from cornstarch, so the whole leaves have space to unfurl and the brew comes out stronger and cleaner than a flat paper bag allows. It won a Great Taste star in 2025.
One temple per cup, freshly boiled water, and at least three minutes. Teapigs suggest drinking it with milk morning, noon and night, and it is a breakfast tea first: pour it with toast and Mrs Darlington's Medium Cut Orange Marmalade, or make a pot for the afternoon with a tin of Cartwright & Butler Sea Salted Caramel Biscuits open on the table.
Fifteen temples to a box. The temples are certified plastic-free and compostable in council food waste. Contains caffeine. No allergens declared; dairy-free, gluten-free, and suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
