Cricket St Thomas Somerset Camembert 220g

A soft, white-rinded Camembert-style cheese made from pasteurised cow's milk in Somerset. Lubborn Creamery at Cricket St Thomas, Somerset, has been making soft mould-ripened cheeses for over forty years, using milk collected from dedicated farms in the West Country and ripening the cheese in the conventional way.

The maker describes it as a full-fat soft cheese, rich and creamy with a mild, fresh flavour and a soft, edible white rind. It is a gentle cheese, not a pungent one, and the maker lists it as suitable for vegetarians.

Bring it to room temperature an hour before serving and eat it with Peter's Yard Original Sourdough Crackers and a spoon of Tracklements Caramelised Onion Marmalade. Or bake it: score the top, add a sprig of thyme and a splash of white wine, and give it 15 minutes in a hot oven until it collapses, then dip in bread, or sun-dried tomatoes and olives as the maker suggests. It holds its own on any cheeseboard.
