A hand painted papier mache canister a foot high, lined in velvet, holding five bags of Mr Trotter's pork crackling and pork crunch. The crackling is triple cooked by RayGray Snacks in Rugeley, Staffordshire, the scratchings maker that Tom Parker Bowles, Matthew Fort and Rupert Ponsonby founded the brand with in 2011.
Inside is one 30g bag of each of the four flavours, Original, Jalapeño, English Mustard and Salt & Vinegar, plus a 25g bag of Pork Crunch, the puffed, lighter version. Every bag is 95% pork rind, cooked three times for a crisp bite rather than a tooth breaker. The canister is the main event: a limited edition commissioned by Mr Trotter's from painters in Kashmir, which the maker calls a family heirloom for the future, and it will be around long after the crackling has gone.
It is a showpiece for a pub lover or a crackling obsessive, and once empty it will hold anything from biscuits to bottle openers. Pair it with the Crackling & Ale Gift Box for someone who wants the pint as well.
