Description

Four deep filled mince pies, each finished with a pastry star, baked by Lottie Shaw's in Brighouse, West Yorkshire. It is a family recipe, and the maker says the pies featured in The Independent's best mince pie review.

The mincemeat makes up just over half of each pie: sugar, apple purée, raisins, sultanas, currants, mixed peel and vegetable suet, with mixed spice and orange and lemon oils. The pastry is made with vegetable oils rather than butter, which is why the pies are vegan.

Warm them gently and serve with cream or Tiptree Brandy Butter. The maker gives them a shelf life of 24 weeks, so they can be bought early.
