Folkington's Peach Juice Nectar

A peach nectar in a 250ml glass bottle, bottled by Folkington's at Polegate in East Sussex, a family-owned drinks business that uses only not-from-concentrate juice and purée, pressed soon after picking. Nectar is thicker than a pressed juice because it carries the fruit's purée as well as its juice.

This one is 67% peach juice and purée, with water, grape syrup and ascorbic acid as an antioxidant. There is no added refined sugar; the sweetness is the fruit's own plus the grape. The peaches are grown mainly by farming communities in the Spanish regions of Catalonia and Aragon. The producer calls it smooth and velvety, a rich peach drink, and the texture is the thing you notice first: it coats the glass and tastes of ripe peach flesh rather than peach flavouring.

Serve it very cold on its own, or lengthen it with sparkling water over ice. It is the base of a Bellini: a splash in the bottom of a flute, topped with Chapel Down English Rosé Sparkling Wine. It also pairs with breakfast pastries and with a fruit-forward cheese course, say Bath Soft Cheese Organic Soft Cheese and fresh figs, and it slots into a hamper with the soft drinks collection.

We send food and drink, so parcels never wait in depots over the weekend. Order by midday, Monday to Thursday, for next-day delivery: DPD with a one-hour window for most orders, APC Overnight's specialist liquid service for anything containing wine, spirits or other liquids. Orders after midday Thursday, or over the weekend, dispatch on Monday.

If your order arrives damaged, faulty, missing an item, or not as described, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and clear photos of the packaging and the affected item. Please keep all packaging until we've reviewed the issue.
