Drivers Free Range Pickled Eggs

Sale price£5.00

A jar of pickled eggs is a particular thing. It belongs on a chip shop counter, on a pub bar at four in the afternoon, on the table at a ploughman's lunch.

Free-range hens' eggs, hard-boiled, peeled and steeped in distilled barley malt vinegar with spices and salt. Made in Braunstone Frith, Leicester, by Drivers — picklers since 1906, now in the hands of the fourth generation of the family who started it.

Drivers began as a grocer's in the market town of Ibstock, Leicestershire, in the mid-nineteenth century. Pickled onions and malt vinegar followed in 1902, supplied to local fishmongers. The recipe and the malt vinegar haven't materially changed. The factory now runs on 100% renewable energy. 550g jar.

Eat them straight from the jar. With chips and a pint. Sliced into a salad cream sandwich, if no one is watching.

A Leicestershire pickling tradition, kept by the same family for over a hundred and twenty years.

Made In England jar of Drivers free range pickled eggs, whole eggs in brine with a tan lid.
