Drivers Free Range Pickled Eggs

Hard-boiled free range eggs steeped in spiced distilled malt vinegar, pickled by Drivers at Braunstone Frith in Leicester, Leicestershire, where the Driver family have run their pickle and vinegar business since 1906. Pickled onions and malt vinegar were the firm's first trade, sold to local fishmongers, and the eggs sit squarely in that chip shop tradition.

The ingredient list is short: free range eggs, water, distilled barley malt vinegar, flavouring and salt. The producer describes the vinegar as spicy, so expect a sharp, savoury bite around a firm white and a dense yolk. The eggs and the barley in the malt vinegar are both declared allergens.

Drivers call them the accompaniment to fish and chips, and that is the obvious place to start. They also belong on a pub bar with a packet of Brown Bag Crisps Sea Salt & Malt Vinegar, on a ploughman's plate beside a spoon of Tracklements Perfect Ploughman's Pickle and a slab of cheese, or halved into a salad with cold ham. Quartered on buttered bread with a shake of white pepper they make a fair Saturday lunch.

If your order arrives damaged, faulty, missing an item, or not as described, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and clear photos of the packaging and the affected item. Please keep all packaging until we've reviewed the issue.
