Orange curd is less common than lemon and better for being underrepresented. The flavour is warmer, less astringent, with a sweetness that complements the citrus rather than fighting against it. Mrs Darlington's make theirs in Skipton, North Yorkshire, with whole eggs and real butter, applying the same approach to orange that makes their lemon curd so good.
It works on pancakes in the way that lemon curd works on toast. In a sponge cake it replaces jam entirely and does so with considerably more elegance. Very good on crumpets when nobody is suggesting you eat something more sensible.
English-made in Yorkshire by a producer who takes preserves seriously. Vegetarian. 320g.
