Four 113g jars of winter chutney in one box from West Country Legends in Glastonbury, Somerset: Dimpsey Ale, Boxing Day, Festive Reserve, and Pear, Plum & Port.
Dimpsey Ale is an apple and onion chutney with carrot, dates, dried fruit, swede, gherkin and 2% ale, spiced with mustard seed, ginger and chilli. Boxing Day is 37% apple with 11% cranberries, figs, sultanas and a little spiced cider. Festive Reserve is the darker, sharper one, onions and dates in white wine vinegar with mustard seed, garlic and chilli. Pear, Plum & Port is 32% plums and 11% pears with raisins, port, ginger, cinnamon, allspice and cloves. The maker describes the set as rich with seasonal spice and made for the festive table.
They are built for cold meat and cheese. Spoon the Boxing Day chutney next to leftover turkey and ham, put the Festive Reserve with a mature cheddar, the Pear, Plum & Port with a blue such as Long Clawson Blue Stilton, and the Dimpsey Ale with a pork pie.
