Mr Filbert's Adnams Ghost Ship Beery Peanuts 100g

Sweet and salty glazed peanuts made by Mr Filbert's in Glastonbury, Somerset, with a dash of Adnams Ghost Ship pale ale from the Southwold brewery in Suffolk. The two companies developed them together as the thing to eat with a cold pint of Ghost Ship.

The bag is 93% peanuts. The glaze is sugar, sea salt and a little of the ale itself, with lemon oil, hops, yeast extract and a natural rose flavouring to pick up the citrus notes of the beer. The result is a peanut that starts sweet, turns salty and finishes with a faint bitterness from the hops, so it does what a pub snack should do and makes the next mouthful of beer taste better.

Put a bowl out with the beers before Christmas lunch, or take a bag to the pub. They sit well next to the plainer Salt Crust Peanuts and the Somerset Applewood Smoked Mixed Nuts from the same maker, and a bag goes into a stocking or a hamper for anyone who drinks ale.

A 100g bag. Allergens: peanuts, and gluten from the barley malt and rye malt in the ale. Labelled dairy free by the maker, and the ingredient list contains nothing from an animal.
