Lottie Shaw's Yorkshire Parkin 420g

A 420g box of Yorkshire parkin from Lottie Shaw's, baked in Brighouse, West Yorkshire. The maker describes it as a family recipe over 100 years old, made with flour, oatmeal, black treacle and syrup, and says it has won a Great Taste Award.

The treacle caramelises and hardens during baking, as is traditional, and the parkin is then left to rest so the caramel softens and the cake turns sticky and crumbly. Spread a little butter on a slice and have it with tea, or warm it and serve as a pudding with caramel sauce.

The maker gives it a shelf life of 24 weeks from baking, in a recyclable box. Allergens: wheat (gluten), oats and milk. The maker warns it may contain traces of barley, egg, soya and sulphites. Suitable for vegetarians.
