Lottie Shaw's Seriously Good Mince Pies 6 Pack

Six deep filled shortcrust mince pies, each topped with a pastry star, baked by Lottie Shaw's in Brighouse, West Yorkshire. Lottie grew up in her parents' bakery in the Pennines and the business still works from family recipes that go back three generations.

The pastry is a plain shortcrust made with rapeseed and sustainably sourced palm oil rather than butter, which is why these pies happen to be vegan. The mincemeat is half the weight of each pie: sugar, apple, raisins, sultanas and currants with mixed peel, vegetable suet, mixed spice and orange and lemon oils. The result is an old fashioned mince pie, sweet and fruity with a crisp case, and the maker notes it has featured in The Independent's annual mince pie review.

Warm them for a few minutes before serving with a spoon of Tiptree Brandy Butter, or put the box out as it is with the coffee after Christmas lunch. They keep for weeks, so they are a sensible early buy.
