Mrs Darlington's Thick Cut Orange Marmalade

Mrs Darlington's Thick Cut Orange Marmalade is made near Nantwich in Cheshire by a family firm that has cooked its own preserves since 1980. The maker describes it as filled with chunky peel for a wonderful texture, and it is the one to buy if you like to chew your marmalade.

Seville oranges are the fruit, prepared at 44g per 100g with orange juice, water, sugar, pectin, lemon juice and orange oil, with no added colour or preservative. The thick strips of peel carry the bitterness that Sevilles are grown for, and the set is firm enough to hold its shape on a spoon.

Hot toast is the obvious place for it, but it is also the marmalade for cooking: it makes a marmalade bread and butter pudding, glazes a ham or a duck breast, and gives a steamed sponge its top. The maker also does a Shredless Orange Marmalade for those who want the flavour without the peel.

We send food and drink, so parcels never wait in depots over the weekend. Order by midday, Monday to Thursday, for next-day delivery: DPD with a one-hour window for most orders, APC Overnight's specialist liquid service for anything containing wine, spirits or other liquids. Orders after midday Thursday, or over the weekend, dispatch on Monday.
