Chocolarder Cornish Sea Salt 50% Milk Chocolate

A 50% milk chocolate bar with sea salt, made bean to bar by Chocolarder at Falmouth in Cornwall, where the beans are roasted, ground on the maker's renovated antique machines and aged before moulding. The cocoa is from the Three Mountains region of Ghana and the salt is harvested locally on the Lizard.

Four ingredients: cocoa beans, unrefined raw sugar, milk powder and Cornish sea salt. The maker's own tasting notes are fudge, salt and cream, and that is an honest summary. The Ghanaian milk chocolate is fudgy and sweet, and the salt sits in small pockets through the bar rather than being blended in, so every few squares you meet a bright, zesty hit that cuts the richness and sends you back for another piece. It is a 50% bar, so darker and less sugary than a supermarket milk chocolate, but still soft and creamy.

Eat it as it is, broken from the bar after dinner with a coffee, or shave it over a pudding: a square melted into a hot chocolate made with Pump Street West Papua 70% Drinking Chocolate makes the drink richer and saltier. It is a good match for a glass of Filey Bay STR Red Wine Cask English Single Malt Whisky, and it slips easily into a hamper alongside anything from the confectionery collection.

We send food and drink, so parcels never wait in depots over the weekend. Orders after midday Thursday, or over the weekend, dispatch on Monday.
