Chococo Marvellous Milk 47% Milk Chocolate Bar

Marvellous Milk is a 75g bar of 47% Colombia origin milk chocolate with nothing added to it, the plain version of the chocolate the maker uses across its range. Chococo make it in Swanage, Dorset, where the Burnet family have made chocolate since 2002 and had this blend produced for them at origin from Fino de Aroma cocoa.

At 47% cocoa solids and 23% milk solids it carries more cocoa and less sugar than most milk chocolate; the producer puts added sugar at 30%. It won a Gold Great Taste Award in 2023, and the judges described a smooth bar with a good snap, a melt-in-the-mouth feel, cocoa coming through with a light fruitiness, and a creamy, rich flavour with earthy depth. The producer sums it up as creamy yet rich with bright top notes.

The producer suggests it with coffee or wine, or on its own as a treat. Try it after dinner with a glass of Lyme Bay Pinot Noir, or alongside a cup of Cornish Coffee Original. It is the one to buy first if you want to understand what the rest of the range is built on.

The bar weighs 75g and comes in a recyclable paper pouch inside a cardboard box, with no plastic. It contains milk and may contain traces of gluten, nuts and soya. Store cool and dry.
