The recipe that started everything, now in milk chocolate.
Charbonnel et Walker's Original Drinking Chocolate was created in 1875 by Madame Charbonnel, made with pure chocolate flakes rather than powder, dissolved in hot water or milk, and served in London's chocolate houses as something closer to a confection than a drink. This is that recipe, remade with fine milk chocolate: a touch sweeter, noticeably creamier, the same depth.
Thirty-three and a half percent cocoa solids minimum. Proper chocolate flakes, not a dusty substitute.
Presented in a decorative reusable tin. Stir into hot milk; finish with whipped cream or a measure of something appropriate for the occasion.
