Charbonnel et Walker Gingerbread Truffles 110g

Milk chocolate truffles with the flavour of gingerbread, made by Charbonnel et Walker at Poundbury in Dorset. The chocolatier has been working to the recipes of Madame Charbonnel since it opened on Bond Street in London in 1875, and this is one of its Christmas truffles.

Each truffle has a milk chocolate centre infused with real ginger, enrobed in more milk chocolate and studded with pieces of cinnamon biscuit. The biscuit gives a crunch on the outside before the soft middle, and the spice is gentle: think of a gingerbread house rather than a jar of stem ginger. Warm, sweet and a little toasty, it is the flavour of December in one mouthful.

Open the box on Christmas Eve with a pot of tea, or tuck it into the stocking of someone who prefers milk chocolate to dark. It sits nicely next to the Eggnog Truffles if you want to give a pair.

A 110g box. Contains milk, soya and wheat, and may contain traces of nuts, egg and other cereals containing gluten. No alcohol. Keep somewhere cool.
