Cartwright & Butler Demerara Shortbread Rounds in Carton 150g

A 150g carton of butter shortbread rounds with demerara sugar, from Cartwright & Butler, the Arnett family firm based at Gilberdyke in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

This is the plain one in the maker's shortbread range. Salted butter is 34% of the recipe. The rest is wheat flour, caster sugar and corn starch, with 3.5% demerara sugar, a little icing sugar and salt. There is no added flavouring.

Plain shortbread goes with almost anything. Have it with a pot of Tregothnan English Breakfast, put it beside strawberries and cream in summer, or crumble it over stewed fruit.

150g of shortbread in a carton. Contains wheat (gluten) and milk. May contain eggs, nuts, soya and mustard. Once opened, keep in an airtight tin.
