Chocolarder Asháninka 72% Dark Chocolate

A single-origin 72% dark chocolate bar made bean to bar by Chocolarder at Falmouth in Cornwall, roasted and ground on the maker's renovated antique machines from cocoa grown by the Asháninka people in the Peruvian Amazon. There, in the maker's words, native forest species, cacao trees and natural vegetation grow together, capturing carbon and helping protect untouched rainforest.

Two ingredients only: cocoa beans and unrefined raw sugar. The maker's tasting notes are red fruit, hazelnut and caramel, and that order is roughly how the bar unfolds: fruit first, a nutty middle, then a sweet caramel finish that makes it read gentler than many bars at 72%. There is no milk, so it is plant-based by nature, and no emulsifier appears on the ingredient list. Snap it and the bar is glossy and clean, which is what you want from a well-tempered dark chocolate.

Have a square after dinner with coffee, or use it in the kitchen where a fruity dark chocolate earns its keep: melted into a mousse, chopped through brownies, or grated over a cheeseboard beside a blue such as Long Clawson Blue Stilton Wedge. It also goes well with a glass of Lyme Bay Winery Pinot Noir, and it belongs in any hamper built around the confectionery collection.

We send food and drink, so parcels never wait in depots over the weekend. Order by midday, Monday to Thursday, for next-day delivery: DPD with a one-hour window for most orders, APC Overnight's specialist liquid service for anything containing wine, spirits or other liquids. Orders after midday Thursday, or over the weekend, dispatch on Monday.

Cheese is cut fresh to order and sent chilled, dispatched every Monday and Wednesday. Everything in your order ships together in one insulated box, arriving the next day.

If your order arrives damaged, faulty, missing an item, or not as described, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and clear photos of the packaging and the affected item. Please keep all packaging until we've reviewed the issue.
