Six products from West Country Legends in Glastonbury, Somerset, boxed as a hamper for the cheeseboard: Farmhouse Cheddar Cheese Straws (100g), Cheddar & Apple Nibbles (85g), Original Wholemeal Biscuits for Cheese (100g), Charcoal Biscuits for Cheese (100g), Sou'wester Onion Chutney (113g) and Piquant Chilli Jam (113g).
The cheese straws are 27.8% West Country farmhouse cheddar in a flaky butter pastry. The nibbles are 35% butter and 16% mature cheddar with 9% dried apple. The wholemeal biscuits are 35% wholemeal flour with butter and egg; the charcoal biscuits take 15% oats and 1% charcoal powder. The onion chutney is 55% onions with balsamic vinegar, and the chilli jam is peppers, tomatoes and 2% chillies with garlic and lemon. The maker's description is a collection for sharing, grazing and pairing with cheese.
Add the cheese and it is a complete board. A wedge of Wookey Hole Cave Aged Cheddar or something from The Cheese Counter covers it; the chilli jam also works with a sausage roll or a cheese toastie on Boxing Day. It is a present in its own right for anyone who would rather have the biscuits and chutney than the cheese itself.
