West Country Legends Apple & Cinnamon Sweet Straws

A 100g box of apple and cinnamon sweet straws baked by West Country Legends in Glastonbury, Somerset, using traditional methods and locally sourced ingredients, the pastry folded into golden layers and baked until just crisp.

The straws are made from wheat flour and butter, with sugar, 2.6% freeze-dried apple, 1.7% apple purée, 1.4% cinnamon and a little salt. The maker describes them as orchard fruit meeting the gentle warmth of spice, and that is the balance: the apple is there as a real fruit note, the cinnamon is warm rather than fierce, and the butter pastry does the rest. They are short and crisp rather than chewy, and not very sweet.

They belong with a pot of tea. Put a few on a plate at four o'clock with Tregothnan English Breakfast Tea or anything from the tea and coffee shelf, or serve them after supper alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a spoon of stewed apple. They also go into a hamper well, and children will eat them in place of a biscuit.

If your order arrives damaged, faulty, missing an item, or not as described, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and clear photos of the packaging and the affected item. Please keep all packaging until we've reviewed the issue.
