Tracklements Pineapple & Chilli Relish

Tracklements Pineapple & Chilli Relish is a sweet and tangy relish with a tropical kick, cooked by Tracklements at Easton Grey near Malmesbury in Wiltshire, where the firm makes its chutneys, relishes and mustards as a B Corp certified producer. Pineapple makes up 63% of the jar.

The fruit is cooked with cider vinegar, raw cane sugar, onions and carrots, with red chillies at 4%, chopped ginger and a little mustard seed. The producer describes it as reminiscent of a mango chutney, but with more sweetness and spice. The pineapple gives it the sweetness, the vinegar keeps it sharp, and the chilli and ginger arrive at the end as a warm, gentle heat rather than a burn.

The producer suggests it with grilled pork, chicken and fish, and say it does something rather magical to a creamy brie or goats' cheese. Spoon it into rice bowls and stir fries, or use it in a toastie or on a burger, which is how Olive Magazine recommended it. It also earns a place on a cheeseboard next to a mild, soft cheese where a mango chutney would be too heavy.

The jar holds 190g. The ingredient list contains mustard seed, so it is not free of mustard, but there are no other declared allergens. Refrigerate once opened.
