A 100g jar of bee pollen from The London Honey Co. of Bermondsey in Greater London, the beekeeping company Steve Benbow started in 1999. The producer says it is made in small batches from its own hives and packed by hand in Bermondsey.
Bee pollen is the pollen honeybees gather from flowers and carry back to the hive as small granules. The producer says this one is collected in wildflower meadows, and that the plants behind it include blackthorn, willow, allium, blackberry, raspberry, dandelion, damson and plum, which is why the granules in a single jar are different colours. The jar contains bee pollen and nothing else.
It is eaten by the teaspoon. The producer suggests letting it dissolve on the tongue, stirring it into breakfast yoghurt, scattering it over a salad or adding it to a smoothie. It is a seasonal harvest made in limited quantities, so it will not always be in stock.
100g jar. Bee pollen can cause an allergic reaction. The producer advises speaking to your doctor before eating it if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have a pollen allergy. Refrigerate once opened.
