Chocolarder Milk Chocolate Hazelnuts, 200g

Italian hazelnuts coated in 50% milk chocolate, made by Chocolarder at Falmouth in Cornwall from cocoa grown at Öko Caribe in the Dominican Republic.

The chocolate is ground from the bean on the maker's renovated antique machines, which is unusual for a coated nut: most are finished in bought-in couverture. Öko Caribe cocoa carries caramel and roasted nut flavours of its own, so it meets the hazelnut halfway rather than burying it. Cornish sea salt goes in to keep the whole thing from reading as sweet.

A 200g box for passing round with coffee or drinks, and a straightforward addition to a hamper from the confectionery collection.
