Drivers have been pickling in Leicestershire since 1906, when Frederick Charles Driver turned the family grocery into a pickle and vinegar company. Four generations on, the same family still runs it.

This is their real ale chutney — apple and onion cooked down with sugar, dried fruits and a measure of ale, for a dark, sweet, malty chutney with a proper depth to it.

The classic partner for a ploughman's: cut a wedge of mature cheddar, add cold ham and a hunk of bread, and let the chutney do the rest. Net weight 350g. Suitable for vegetarians.
