Mrs Darlington's Strawberry Jam

Mrs Darlington's Strawberry Jam is made near Nantwich in Cheshire by a family firm that has cooked its own preserves since 1980, when the family first made lemon curd on its own farm. The maker calls it the most quintessential of its recipes, and it is the jar most people reach for first.

There are four ingredients: sugar, strawberries, pectin and lemon juice, prepared with 50g of fruit per 100g, which is what earns it the "extra jam" label. There is no added colour or preservative, so the red comes from the fruit alone. The set is soft enough to spread without tearing bread, and whole pieces of strawberry come through it.

Spoon it onto scones with clotted cream, sandwich a Victoria sponge with it, or stir a little through porridge or rice pudding. The maker also suggests the jam butty, which needs no further explanation. It sits well beside Mrs Darlington's Legendary Lemon Curd on a breakfast tray.

Orders after midday Thursday, or over the weekend, dispatch on Monday.

Cheese is cut fresh to order and sent chilled, dispatched every Monday and Wednesday. Everything in your order ships together in one insulated box, arriving the next day.
