Tracklements Sweet Mustard Ketchup

Tracklements Sweet Mustard Ketchup is a pourable mustard sauce made by Tracklements at Easton Grey near Malmesbury in Wiltshire, where the firm also makes the smooth and wholegrain mustards that go into it. It comes in a 290g squeezy bottle rather than a jar.

Smooth mustard makes up 31% of the bottle and wholegrain mustard another 15%, with a further 2% of mustard flour. Raw cane sugar and cider vinegar carry the rest, along with sunflower oil, turmeric and sea salt. The wholegrain mustard is made with black peppercorns, allspice and chillies, so there is a little warmth behind the mustard heat. Expect a sweet, sharp sauce with a proper mustard kick and a bright yellow colour from the turmeric, thick enough to cling but thin enough to pour.

Use it as a baste for sausages, chops and steaks on the barbecue or under the grill, where the sugar helps it caramelise. It also works as a table sauce for hot dogs, ham sandwiches and pork pies, and stirred through mayonnaise or a potato salad dressing. A spoonful in a cheese sauce or on a sausage roll makes sense too.

The bottle holds 290g. Contains mustard. Shake well before use and refrigerate once opened.
