A buttery, crumbly Yorkshire shortbread folded with sweet white chocolate and tart freeze-dried raspberries — pink-flecked, summery, and very hard to put down.

A 200g tin from Cartwright & Butler, the family-owned biscuit and confectionery house that began in 1900 in the kitchen of a terraced house in Yorkshire. The recipes still follow the standards set by Jennie and Kathrine Adam over a hundred and twenty-five years ago — proper butter, no shortcuts, no compromises on taste.

The combination is a classic for a reason. White chocolate is creamy, sweet, vanilla-soft. Raspberry is sharp, fragrant, fruit-forward. Together, they balance each other — one stops the other being too much, and the buttery shortbread base catches it all. Each biscuit comes through with little ruby specks of raspberry suspended in pale chocolate.

Presented in Cartwright & Butler's signature clip-lid tin with a Kilner-style seal — reusable and a quietly handsome thing in itself.

For an afternoon tea, a summer garden, a Mother's Day spread, or an evening with a sweet white wine. Excellent with English Breakfast tea, a glass of cold milk, or a flute of sparkling rosé. Suitable for vegetarians.
