Mrs Darlington's Cranberry Sauce

Mrs Darlington's Cranberry Sauce is made near Nantwich in Cheshire by a family firm that has cooked its own preserves since 1980. The maker's point is that it is not only for turkey: it suits all poultry, chicken, goose or duck, and is well worth a try beyond Christmas.

The recipe could not be shorter: sugar, 46% cranberries and water, with no added colour or preservative. Nearly half the jar is fruit, so it is tart and full of whole berries, with none of the jellied blandness of a tinned sauce. The set is loose enough to spoon straight from the jar.

It belongs beside the Christmas turkey, of course, and in the Boxing Day sandwich with cold meat and stuffing. Through the year it works with a roast chicken, in a brie and cranberry toastie, or stirred into a gravy for duck. For the cheeseboard, pair it with a soft cheese and crackers for cheese.

We send food and drink, so parcels never wait in depots over the weekend. Orders after midday Thursday, or over the weekend, dispatch on Monday.

Cheese is cut fresh to order and sent chilled, dispatched every Monday and Wednesday. Everything in your order ships together in one insulated box, arriving the next day.
