The Natural Spa Wildflower Wisp Soap on a Rope 100g

A 100g bar of cold process soap on a rope, scented with rose geranium, lavender and grapefruit, made by The Natural Spa in East Devon.

The maker calls the scent Wildflower Wisp, and it is soft and floral with a fresh citrus edge from the grapefruit. Australian red clay gives the bar a pink tint, and kaolin and oats add a gentle scrub. The oils are olive, almond, sunflower, cocoa butter, coconut and castor. Like all the maker's bars, it is made by the cold process method, cut by hand and left to cure for four weeks before it is wrapped.

The rope means it can hang from the shower tap and dry out between uses, so it lasts longer than a bar left in a wet dish. It also makes it look like a present without any wrapping. The Natural Spa was started in 2016 by Zoe Strassen, then 18 and fresh from a chef apprenticeship, in a shed at the bottom of her parents' garden. It now works from a small workshop at Woodbury Salterton in East Devon, making everything by hand in small batches.
